This website will be free of charge and without advertising due to the practical support of equine vets and professionals sharing their knowledge. The organisation designing, illustrating and creating the website is set up as a Community Interest Company and is seeking financial support for this work from equine welfare charities, private trusts and individuals.  The website will be promoted across social media and other channels through the support of ambassadors across the many different spheres of equestrian sport and welfare.

Liz Morrison MSc LLB BHSI-SM

Executive Lead
An experienced Level 5 BHS Accredited Stable Manager and Coach, she developed the design and concept of The Veterinary Care of the Horse which she wrote with Sue Devereux and was published by J A Allen.  It made a complex subject easily understandable, and over 140,000 copies were sold. Her parallel professional career has been in communications and change management .

Ben Mayes MA VetMB MRCVS

Veterinary Lead
Ben set up Mayes & Scrine EVP, a five vet, RCVS PSS tier-2 100% equine practice with purpose built clinic facilities in Horsham, West Sussex. He joined the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) Council in 2006 and was the 51st president. He is a true equine general practitioner with clients from all disciplines of equine sport.

June Morrison BSc

Editorial Control
After a career as a Head of Science teacher, June trained as a medical indexer and editor of scientific textbooks, working online. She was Vice president of the Society of Indexers for several years and twice runner up for the prestigious Wheatley Medal. She will be checking for any errors or typos on the website!

Equine vets & related experts

The main content for the website will be written by a panel of equine vets representing the range of equine practices, hospitals and veterinary schools in the UK. Leaders in the fields of farriery and equine physiotherapy, dentistry, nutrition, bio-mechanics and others are also being invited to write pages.

Mark Fitzgibbon

Mark Fitzgibbon has many years of experience as a designer and graphic lead. He has a particular interest in creating easy to use websites and managing complex amounts of data.

Wisdom of the Herd

The wisdom of the herd is the power of social media, harnessed through surveys and questionnaires. Their answers about specific topics draw on truly practical experience. The results are then analysed and key themes drawn out.
